A short story ๐
There was a woman who sold charcoal at a small market.
Every day, her customers complained:
"Your charcoal is good, but my stove eats too much of it."
"The smoke makes my eyes hurt."
"I spend half my money just cooking beans."
The other sellers got tired of hearing it. They told customers, "That's not our problem. We only sell charcoal."
But she listened. ๐
She saved a little money and bought a few energy-saving stoves from a supplier. She put them next to her charcoal.
"Buy this stove," she told customers, "and your charcoal will last longer."
Some laughed. "You're selling something that makes us buy LESS from you?"
She smiled and said nothing.
Within months, people came from far away. Not just for the stoves. They came because they trusted her. She was the seller who cared about their problem, not just her sales. They bought the stove from her, the charcoal from her, and they brought their neighbours.
The other sellers were still selling charcoal. She was selling solutions.
The lesson:
Your customers' complaints are not noise. They are business ideas wearing old clothes. ๐ก
What complaint have you heard this week that could become your next opportunity? ๐
