Picture a school in Uganda where staff meetings used to drag on.
They started late. They ran past lunch. Teachers sat at the back, marking books and waiting for the end. Some found reasons to stay away. Important messages got lost, and the same problems came back every week.
Then the head teacher tried something new.
Every Monday morning, before the first bell, the staff would meet for just 10 minutes. One clear list: what happened last week, what is coming this week, and who needs help.
At first, teachers did not believe it would stay short. But week after week, it did. The head teacher watched the clock and kept the promise.
Slowly, things changed. Teachers began to arrive early for it. Nobody wanted to miss it, because it was short and useful. Duties were clear. Problems were raised early and solved quickly. New teachers felt part of the team from their very first week.
Now Monday mornings feel different. The staff walk into their classrooms knowing the plan, and knowing they are not alone.
Lesson: keep meetings short and useful, and people will come.
